The Wishlist Blog

New additions to your-wishlist.com

Well, the Dashboard widget has taken a bit of time, so I’ve neglected my focus on the site. (Oh, and this reminds me – anyone who has any experience with Konfabulator widgets – wanna get in contact with me?) But that is no longer the case!

Today, I’ve updated your-wishlist.com in a number of ways.

  1. I cleaned up the front page. I thought the featured wishlists were keen, but apparently nobody else did. Gone. Same with tags. Tags are still around, but they’re more behind the scenes. However, with that in mind…
  2. I added a completely new product interface page, which makes it super simple to add comments to products, even if they’re not in a particular wishlist. I thought this was important. Plus, you can now tag products, in addition to wishlists.
  3. Searching products, while still drastically in need of an “advanced search” interface, now searches the entire Amazon catalog. Clicking on a product’s name, if that product is not already in our system at your-wishlist.com, creates a product page transparently, and then allows you to add tags/comments to that product, rate it, or add it to your wishlist.
  4. I added a few Google ads. Sorry.
  5. Finally, there are a few tweaks and modifications floating around as well, most of which I’ve forgotten.

What’s coming soon?

Well, I might as well announce it. A Bodacious Amazon Browser!. I want to make the be-all, end-all, AJAX-powered, Web 2.0-lovin’ Amazon Product browser. We’re packing it full of goodness. And you know what? It’ll be stand-alone, just like the dashboard widget (although it will obviously contain a way to export your items as a wishlist.) We’re gonna let you browse by every conceivable bit of data we have (your-wishlist.com tags, comments, popularity, ratings) as well as what Amazon provides. Look for it soon.

Very good idea!
Should add the “resizable” option, because on a 12″ ibook….

But appart that, it’s excellent

cheers
